Garson
The community of Garson is just a quick 5 miles/9km (approx. 11-minute drive) from New Sudbury and with the Maley Drive Extension the West side of the city is just around the 15-20 minute drive. It is a large peaceful community with many amenities. The Airport is just North of this area making air travel commute quite short. The Garson Mine is located here as well (owned by Vale). It is also home to great features such as a golf course (Cedar Green Golf Club), numerous playgrounds and schools, the Garson Community Centre/Arena and the Garson Library and Citizen Service Centre.
Coniston
Coniston borders Trans Canada Highway 17 and is roughly 12 minutes (10.2km) away from New Sudbury. If the outdoors and trails are your thing, Coniston may be for you. It includes many great features in which to be active and enjoy the great outdoors including Jean Tellier Trail, Jane Goodall Reclamation Trail, the Coniston Community arena which includes outdoor sporting areas, Coniston Centennial Park, East St. Playground and a golf course.
Wahnapitae
Wahnapitae is located right beside Coniston on the East side along Trans Canada Highway 17. If waterfront views, activities and living in a smaller area is your thing, the Wahnapitae area may be your cup of Tea. It began as a logging and farming settlement and is now a community surrounded with an abundance of wonderful views and living thanks to the beautiful Wahnapitae River running through the community. The area also includes Mountainview Park (playground), a waterfront walking trail (Wahnapitae Trail) and the Wahnapitae Community centre which includes outdoor sports areas to keep fit and active.
Skead
Skead is in the Northern part of the Nickel Centre area. With one of the largest bodies of water in the area (Wahanpitae Lake) as well as others in this area, it is a very sought-after place to be for waterfront living as well as fishing for lake trout, walleye, pike, smallmouth bass and perch. Wahnapitae Provincial Park is also located on the Northern part of Lake Wahanpitae which includes hiking as well as a sand bank which makes for a great beach day. Nickel Rim South Mine is also located in the area.
Falconbridge
Falconbridge is a lovely peaceful community located between Garson and Falconbridge. Being just an approx. 7-minute drive away from Garson and only a 17-minute drive to New Sudbury, it’s pretty close to other communities in the area and is also home to the Falconbridge Community Centre that boasts lots of outdoor space as well as the Glencore Canada Offices of Sudbury Integrated Nickel.
