Hospital Area
The Hospital area is located north of the South End and South of downtown Sudbury on the West side of Ramsey Lake which is located in the area of the Hospital (Health Sciences North). You’ll also find the science centre (Science North), the lily creek Boardwalk, The Honourable James Jerome Sports Complex, Yacht club, boat launch to Ramsey lake and the very large Bell Park with beaches, boardwalk and outdoor concert venue.
West End/ Gatchell
The West End/Gatchell is a quieter, more peaceful area in the City Center. It is located beside the Hospital area on the West End and South of Downtown Sudbury. It includes highlights like Dynamic Earth home of the Big Nickel as well as a public swimming pool and Delki Dozi Playground which is a huge park complete with play structures, a bocce court, a skate-boarding area, skating rink, soccer fields and baseball fields as well as a walking/cycling track. Other features include being close to the Big Nickel Mine Rd to get you across town faster and connect you to the bypass around the city, amenities for business and places to eat as well as schools for children.
Downtown Sudbury
Downtown Sudbury is known for its thriving nightlife of bars and dance clubs as well as it’s dinning and boutique community. Sudbury Arena which is home to the local OHL Sudbury Wolves along with NBL Canada’s Sudbury Five, Farmers Market, Memorial Park, Elm Place and a variety of hotels and fitness centres including the YMCA are also located downtown. Home to the City of Greater Sudbury Municipal offices at Tom Davies Square alongside the Ontario Provincial Government / Service Ontario offices. Being centrally located, this area is well suited to be the location of the city bus terminal making getting around to the other city areas convenient.
Flour Mill/ Donovan
The Flour Mill/Donavon features a variety of options for shopping and dining out with two distinct boutique shopping areas, one along Kathleen Street the other on Notre Dame Ave. Some big box stores like Staples, Leon’s and the Brick as well as other retailers including Dollarama are also in the area nearby Sudbury Kartways which features Go carts, mini putt and batting cages. As a more densely populated area of the community there are a variety of elementary / highschool options available nearby along with College Boreal and the Terry Fox Sports Complex being found on the North most point of this neighbourhood.
